6 months. really? wow!
Talofa lava, lo'u aiga! its been another week here in Mt. Roskill.. and this one was a bit tougher that others we've had....
First things first... I got heaps of letters on Thursday! And i was happy as! :) letters form mom, dad, the boys (didnt understand logans with the star of david...?), from megan machen, bro Tali from the MTC, and Gramma and Pap! It was very exciting to have so many letters! :)
This week we've been focusing on working closer with the members because we have no one to teach, so we need to have them find people/friends/family for us to teach. :)
Tuesday was CRAZY. We started at 10am because we had an appt with krsity. (1/2 samoan 1/2 tongan) her samoan is pretty bad, so she will probably get baptized in the palagi ward if and when we get to that point. but she doesn't like the elders, so we are teaching her. :) she is the one we took to the fireside last week. she will be set for baptism this week, i just know it. she is ready for a change in her life, and is starting to see the best way to do so.
we were fed a meat pie by a member we visited earlier, then had fafaga about 2 hours later... where i ate, stir-fry, taro, fried chicken, fried fish, and then they brought out a huge serving of icecream, fruitsalad (the canned fruit cocktail), AND cake! (i almost cried when they brought the desert.... i already felt so gross, and so full, all i wanted to do was puke.) <-- this is breaking the word of wisdom, just so you know. this is what God calls over eating.... and i was forced to do so! :( this is why i get fatter by the week. :(
then we went on mini splits with spohia and Liga (Linga). Liga is also preping for her mission, so she and I went out and did some great work. Miracles happened where we found new samoan houses, got a solid referal, and she helps me with samoan, which i love. :) Tuseday night Liga and i were able to meet with Kanesa. We knocked on her door, and she OPENED it and said, yeap come in. (AH! :D) she has a little girl who is about 3 and one on the way in may! her husband was gone at the time, but we sat for a few minutes at the kitchen table. she is so so nice, and i get excited just writing about here right now. :D i am so hopeful for her. she was really tired, but i could see her curiosity about me and liga and the message we had to share with her. We set a return appointment for saturday. :) also. before we left, she offered to make us dinner... i KINDLY (but urgently) said no thank you, we have to rush off to another appointment (sometimes its okay for missoinaries to lie.)
wednesday... pretty slow, nothing really worthy for the email. haaha sorry.
thursday.... we went on splits with liga and sophia again! more miracles happened with liga! we've been trying to contact a referral for many days now, and with liga we FINALLY found someone at home! her name is Theresa, and is also due in May (whats with all the pregnant ladies, aye?) she has 3 other kiddos, too. She was busy, but said we could come back saturday when all the family was home. yay!
friday.... we had 3 appointments lined up, woop! and 3 fall thrus... :( We also had very strange encounters on the streets this day.... 1st- we pray before each time we leave the car to visit someone, so right as we finished out prayer, an old man approaches my door and the following occurs:
man - "Who am I speaking to?"
(me looking around... no one... so i say my name with a smile.)
man- "are you jehovah witness?"
no.
man- "mormon?"
"yes! we are from the chruch of Jesus Chr-"
man (now angry)- "then why in world do you have a syringe in your hand?!" (i may or may not have censored his words for the email)
(me, very confused.... i look at my hand and see my click-y pen and planner...?)
"um, this is just a pen, sir..."
then he walks away and continues to mumble slightly rude things i wont put in the email..
the poor, crazy guy thought i was holding a needle? man...
then another moment that day... we were driving to another area, see two gangsters on the street in all white and one with a green bandana on his head. make eye contact and the guy pretends to lick something... its was both disturbing and creepy, and made us all laugh in the car. what was with people this day? haha
then it rained... scratch that.. .poured that evening. and we saw a woman who got caught walking in the rain jump on purpose in a giant puddle. that was nice to see someone who embraces all that comes her way. ... the simple moment taught me a good lesson that i hope to incorporate from here on out.
saturday... again. so much potential. 2 appts with the 2 new families... then 2 fall thrus. UGH! i wanted to cry when neither were home. i think Heavenly Father is testing my faith and patience.... no worries though because at the end of the day we listened to a song... you's can figure it out, but the line that stuck out was... "This is just a journey, so drop your worries, its gonna turn out fine. So keep your head up." :)
sunday we just visited families, and tried setting appointments for the coming week. it was ward conf, so it was in english, and i could understand! that was nice. :)
i'm almost done with the New Testament! Today i finished my study in 1st Tim! I started at the beginning of the month! goal: finish before friday. then i'll get back to the D&C to finish that in a few weeks. then the BOM 3 month challenge for the mission starts april 1! I'm going to do it in Samoan, (side by side with english like Kolipoki) to exercise some faith and see where the language goes from there. :)
other than that... dad, I've been uploading pics to the google drive, so let me know when i can delete them form the usb, because its starting to get full. :)
and sorry, but no pics this week. i'll be taking lots of pics today for next week! :)
This week is transfers, but i'm pretty sure sister H and i are all goods here. no calls yet. but we will know no later than wednesday.
stay excellent my family and friends! make your week a great one, and i'll do the same here.
Ever Stalwart, alofa atu, fa soifua,
Sister Camilletti
